Sipapu Ski Resort founder honored today

Molly Vorwerck

Today, Feb. 22, Sipapu Ski Resort in Vadito is holding "Lloyd Bolander Memorial Day" in honor of its founder, who died Jan. 20.

A portion of lift ticket proceeds will go to the Bolander Fund, which was founded by his family to help youth ski programs.

“Our intent with this fund is to provide financial assistance to area kids who want to learn to ski and need a little help doing it,” said the late founder's son, Bruce Bolander, in a press release. “My dad was passionate about teaching others to ski and making that instruction available to everyone, and I know he would’ve been proud of this program."

There will be a reception in the Day Room from 1 to 3 p.m. that is free and open to the public.
