FARMINGTON — The Shiprock wrestling team brought a lot of hardware home from the District 1-4A Duals in Wingate today.

The Chieftains won all five of their duals in earning first place out of six schools. Logan Charley was one of six Shiprock wrestlers to go undefeated, and for that, he earned the Upper Weight Outstanding Wrestler Award.

Also after the meet, Shiprock coach Ben Frazier was named 1-4A Coach of the Year.

"It feels good," Frazier said of the honor. "I'm happy because our kids did it for me. If it wasn't for them, that wouldn't be possible for me."

Shiprock got off to a sluggish start early in the day, but really started to pick up the pace from the 160-pound weight class on.

Accompanying Charley (195) with a pristine record on the afternoon were Cauy Ute (120), Sapphire Williams (126), Zelldan Clark (160), Zephaniah Hadley (170) and heavyweight Tyler Litzin.

Shiprock defeated Foothill (54-18), Wingate (48-24), Pecos (47-36), Newcomb (60-18) and Tierra Encantada (54-24).

"That Pecos dual, that was our most difficult dual of the day," Frazier said.

Pecos was second in the district, while Tierra Encantada took third.

The Chieftains head to Pecos on Friday for the District 1-3A/4A individual tournament.
