District volleyball matches get underway on Tuesday night across the Four Corners

  • Bloomfield volleyball beat Shiprock in straight sets to open District 1-4A play

FARMINGTON – District volleyball matches began across the Four Corners tonight.

Despite some ill-timed attack errors about midway through the match, Kirtland Central held off Gallup in four sets (25-19, 25-19, 21-25, 25-23) at Karlin Gym in Kirtland to start District 1-4A action.

Bloomfield had some well-timed hits to beat Shiprock in straight sets (25-17, 25-12, 25-14) to open District 1-4A play at Bobcat Gym in Bloomfield.

Elsewhere, Piedra Vista (25-12, 25-16, 25-22 at Eldorado) and Farmington (25-14, 25-18, 25-17 at La Cueva) both lost in straight sets to start District 2-5A play.

Newcomb lost in straight sets (25-11, 25-7, 25-10) at home against District 1-2A foe Dulce.

Bloomfield boys, Aztec girls blank foes in soccer 

The Bobcats (8-4, 2-1) beat Gallup 2-0 today at Mesa Alta Soccer Field in Bloomfield, while the Lady Tigers (8-3-1, 2-0) won 3-0 today at Miyamura.

Lady Eagles soccer team opens district play

Academy Tech's Valeria Cera and Navajo Prep's Emma Mohs battle for possession of the ball during Tuesday's District 1-A/3A girls soccer match at Eagle Stadium in Farmington.

Navajo Prep's Emma Mohs scored two goals late in the first half to force a 2-2 draw against Academy Tech today at Eagle Stadium in Farmington. Prep is now 3-10-1 (0-0-1) this season.
