Program is affiliated with USA Volleyball
FARMINGTON — The newly formed Eclipse Volleyball Club is seeking new players from the Four Corners region for the upcoming season, club director Mariana Seserman said today.
The club is affiliated with USA Volleyball, the nonprofit national governing body of the sport in America. Seserman said USA Volleyball provides players with another outlet for playing the sport competitively and help them be prepared to one day play college volleyball, should that opportunity arise.
Seserman said the club, which will feature several teams, is separate from school programs.
Seserman said players have to pay to participate. Those fees are to be determined.
Eclipse will play in various tournaments across New Mexico, and registration is open to players ages 11 through 18 from cross the Four Corners region, whether they come from San Juan County, Gallup or Durango, Colorado.
Seserman said players will be placed on teams based on age and skill level.
Seserman said each tournament is paid for through the club fees, which include the coaching, uniforms and practice fees for the whole season.
The season will begin the first week of November and will end the first week of April.
Seserman said there will be five tournaments across New Mexico and Colorado over the course of the season. She said there won't be any tournaments in San Juan County for the upcoming season, but there will be at least one tournament in nearby Durango.
Seserman said there potentially will be a championship match for each of the five tournaments, but there won't be a final championship match at the end of the season.
"It's just the way that (volleyball) club is run. Within each tournament itself, it's the way it's structured," Seserman said.
Practice times and locations will be finalized before the opening week of the season, according to Seserman.
