PV's Hannah Sayyeau signs with NMHU women's track

Piedra Vista's Hannah Sayyeau signs her letter of intent Tuesday to continue her track career at New Mexico Highlands University.

FARMINGTON — Piedra Vista girls track and field star Hannah Sayyeau expects to bolster New Mexico Highlands University’s women’s track and field program after signing with the Cowgirls today via athletic scholarship.

Sayyeau, who the defending 6A state javelin champion, will be one of Highlands’ primary women’s javelin throwers.

Highlands, an NCAA Division II program in Las Vegas, New Mexico, is fresh off its second Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference championship in four years.

After qualifying for state in the javelin on April 16, thanks to a final distance of 131 feet, 11 inches, Sayyeau eyes back-to-back state javelin championships in the 6A state track and field championships Friday and Saturday in Albuquerque.
