Lady Scorps continue dominance
FARMINGTON – The Farmington Lady Scorpions resumed their dominance on the tennis court, winning Friday’s Cavern City Duals girls tennis tournament in Carlsbad.
FHS easily handled business, 8-1, against the host Cavegirls.
Anna Briones (6-0, 6-0 over Carlsbad’s Brittney Cunningham), Kaylee Fresquez (6-0, 6-0 over Carlsbad’s Cadie Jo Norman) and Cassidy Gallegos (6-0, 6-1 over Carlsbad’s Kate Chester) coasted to quick wins in singles play.
FHS also won all three doubles matches.
Farmington will compete in the Capital Invitational March 29-30 in Santa Fe.
Kirtland baseball blasts Durango
The Broncos pulled away to win 12-1 in five innings today at KCHS, improving to 7-2 this season.
Kirtland’s won back-to-back 10-run mercy rule games. KC’s also scored eight-plus runs in six of its nine games so far this year.
PV softball ends Southern Warrior Classic strong
Despite losing an early lead in Friday's 8-3 loss to Cascade, Tennessee, the Lady Panthers wrapped up tournament play with a 4-3 win over Stewarts Creek, Tennessee today.
PV won three of its final four tournament games.
PV (7-4) will face West Las Vegas at 1 p.m. Thursday to start the Kristen Griego Memorial tournament in Rio Rancho.
Bloomfield softball’s bats ignite
The Lady Bobcats generated 21 hits en route to a 14-3, fifth-inning mercy rule win over Taos today at Bloomfield Softball Complex.
Bloomfield hit plenty of line drives all across the outfield, and base-runners scored kept on scoring easy runs.
