FARMINGTON – The Farmington softball team quickly made amends for a rough start to District 2-5A action, crushing West Mesa 11-1 for its first district win today at Ricketts Softball Complex.

Despite not doing damage with runners on base during the first inning, Ulysse Morales drove in two runs with a deep shot to left field to open a five-run outburst in the second inning.

From there, the Lady Scorpions seized control.

FHS tacked on six more runs, including a game-ending solo home run by Morales.

The Panthers had another strong outing on the hitting end, coasting to 10-2 and 10-0 wins in Friday’s doubleheader at Ricketts Park.

PV had some key at-bats to give base runners extra time to go from one bag to the next, and the Panthers also had some deep liners to expand their lead.

Isaiah Gamboa hit 3-for-4 with two RBIs in Game 1, while Matt Swarts hit 3-for-3 with two RBIs in Game 2.

PV (15-8, 3-1) will resume District 2-5A play next Saturday at West Mesa.
