Aztec baseball, softball teams victorious again

FARMINGTON — Aztec’s baseball and softball teams broke out the bats to stay perfect in District 1-4A action.

The Lady Tigers handled business against Shiprock 17-2 and 17-0 in Thursday’s twin bill at the Aztec Tiger Sports Complex, while AHS baseball pulled away in the bottom of the fourth inning to crush Gallup 14-4 on Thursday.

Aztec softball (15-6, 6-0) has won 11 of its last 12 games, scoring 11-plus runs nine times during that stretch.

AHS baseball (16-5, 5-0) has won 13 of its last 14 overall and have also scored a combined 32 runs its last three games.

Aztec's Colton Sparks is welcomed back to the dugout after scoring a run against Gallup during Thursday's game at AHS.

Kirtland baseball tops Bloomfield

The Broncos scored five unanswered runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to win Thursday’s District 1-4A bout, 11-9, at KCHS.

Kirtland (11-5, 4-1) has scored 10-plus runs in three of its last five games. Bloomfield (10-11, 1-4) has lost eight of its last 10 games overall.

PV, Bloomfield softball teams drop road games

The Lady Panthers lost 17-0 Thursday at Rio Rancho, while the Lady Bobcats lost back-to-back games, 12-0 and 12-1, Thursday at Gallup.

PV (13-8, 2-2) was shut out by Rio Rancho for the second time this season.

Bloomfield (11-11, 2-4) has lost four straight games.

Shiprock baseball falls to Miyamura

The Chieftains trailed 8-1 after two innings and couldn’t recover, falling 13-4 at home on Thursday.

Shiprock (8-10, 1-4) has lost seven of its last nine games.
