Lady Scorpions earn No. 5 seed in 5A playoffs
FARMINGTON – Farmington’s turnaround on the hitting end over the last six weeks is doing great wonders for the Lady Scorpions, just in time for the big show.
Averaging 11.8 runs scored since March 23, FHS won 12 of its final 14 regular season games and cruised to a District 1-5A title. In the end, the Lady Scorpions were rewarded today with the No. 5 seed in this year’s New Mexico Activities Association 5A State Softball bracket.
FHS (16-9-1) will face No. 12 Deming at 8:30 a.m. Thursday at Cleveland High.
Farmington's key wins include 5A's Los Alamos, as well as district sweeps of Aztec, Bloomfield and Gallup. FHS also engaged in a 9-8 battle with 6A's Las Cruces, despite being on the losing end of that one.
At least 12 of the 15 players on Farmington's roster are hitting .304 or higher so far this season.
