FARMINGTON – A rain storm that fell over the area on Friday afternoon caused the Piedra Vista and Farmington softball teams to postpone their doubleheaders.

Both teams were scheduled to play games at 4 and 6 p.m. Farmington was supposed to play Miyamura at Ricketts Park, while Piedra Vista was set to host Gallup at the Farmington Sports Complex.

The rain slowed down at approximately 4:45 p.m., but forecasts predicted continued showers throughout the evening, which ultimately forced the hands of the athletic directors involved.

"We didn't really have the resources to clean up all the mud and puddles left on the field," PV coach Kevin Werth said. "Our concern, too, was putting all that work in to get the field ready, then as soon as it's ready, we get hit with another storm."

No make-up dates have been set for either doubleheader. Both Werth and Farmington coach Tim Trotter said they are aiming to reschedule their games for Tuesday or Wednesday and that a final decision will be made on Monday.
