Aztec girls soccer earns a first-round bye in 4A state playoffs
FARMINGTON – The Aztec girls soccer team earned a first-round bye in the 4A state playoffs.
The Lady Tigers (15-4-1) fared well in some key matches as 2019 progressed, including a 1-1 draw against Farmington, beating Piedra Vista twice, as well as wins over Los Alamos, Goddard and Roswell.
Aztec also went unbeaten in District 1-4A.
The 4A state quarterfinals will be held on Nov. 6 in Bernalillo.
Kirtland boys, Prep girls also reach soccer playoffs
The Broncos (17-3) earned the No. 9 seed in the 4A boys soccer playoffs and will play at No. 8 Lovington in the first round. Kirtland won district for the first time since 2002.
The Lady Eagles finished the regular season with back-to-back district wins and earned the No. 11 seed in the A/3A girls soccer playoffs. Prep (5-13-1) will play at No. 6 Robertson in the first round.
First-round matches will be on Nov. 1 and No. 2.
