Broncos soccer team wins first district title since 2002

FARMINGTON — The Kirtland Central Broncos are district boys soccer champions for the first time since 2002.

The reality finally set in after KC beat Aztec 4-0 today at Bill Cawood Field in Kirtland.

Kirtland (17-3, 7-1) put the match away for good by the midway point in the first half. Anesio Villegas broke free down the left side and scored the first goal, and Colten Warner booted in the second on a penalty kick.

KC tacked on two more goals afterward.

Kirtland volleyball gets critical win

The Lady Broncos took down Miyamura in five sets tonight at Karlin Gym in Kirtland.

KC’s now 12-5, 6-2 in District 1-4A. Miyamura’s now 9-7, 7-1 in District 1-4A.

Aztec girls soccer victorious

Aztec’s Miranda Garcia scored the deciding goal early in the second half, lifting the Lady Tigers to a 1-0 win over Kirtland Central tonight at Fred Cook Memorial Stadium in Aztec. 

Aztec concluded district play at 8-0, improving to 15-4-1 overall.

Shiprock volleyball also victorious

The Lady Chieftains beat Aztec in straight sets tonight in Shiprock.

Prep volleyball falls at Tohatchi

The Lady Eagles’ district title hopes are on hold after their five-set loss tonight.

Prep dropped its first district match of the year, but it’s only one win away from clinching the district title.

PV, Newcomb volleyball teams fall

The Lady Panthers lost in straight sets tonight at Bayfield, Colorado, while the Skyhawks lost in straight sets tonight at Dulce.
