District soccer matches get underway

FARMINGTON — District soccer is finally underway in and around the Four Corners.

The Aztec girls (4-1 over Bloomfield) and the Kirtland boys (11-1 over Miyamura) won their District 1-4A openers tonight.

Meanwhile, the Piedra Vista girls and the Farmington boys both dropped their District 2-5A openers tonight. The Lady Panthers lost 4-0 at home against Eldorado, while the Scorpions lost 12-2 to La Cueva in Albuquerque.

PV sweeps Kirtland in volleyball

The Lady Panthers capitalized on multiple KC attack errors to win in straight sets (25-13, 25-17, 25-21) tonight at Karlin Gym in Kirtland.

Kirtland had too many hits go out of bounds, and PV responded by generating well-timed kills and blocks.

PV golf teams win Chuck Soria Invitational titles

The PV girls shot 369 to win the girls team title Monday at Riverview Golf Course in Kirtland, while the PV boys shot 312 to win the boys tournament title. 

Both teams already punched their tickets to the 5A state golf championships in May after logging three qualifying team scores. Both are now up to five apiece.

Piedra Vista will host the PV Invitational at 9 a.m. next Monday at Piñon Hills Golf Course in Farmington.
