FARMINGTON – Piedra Vista’s offense again did plenty of damage against District 1-5A foe Highland, this time cruising to a 55-15 victory in tonight’s 5A state football playoff opener at Hutchison Stadium in Farmington.

Jarrod Mitchell got things rolling with 29-yard and 13-yard touchdown runs.

As the first half progressed, the game quickly got out of hand. PV kept muscling in 10-yard runs here, quick five or 10-yard passes there.

And the running clock was turned on 40 seconds into the third quarter after a 19-yard touchdown run by Mitchell made it a 35-point game.

PV’s Michael Candelaria had a pair of touchdown runs.

Piedra Vista (8-3) will play at Goddard in the 5A state quarterfinals next Saturday.
