Farmington-Rio Grande game in Albuquerque suspended

FARMINGTON – The Piedra Vista and Aztec football teams both had dominant outings on homecoming night.

The Panthers (5-1) blanked Albuquerque 28-0 tonight at Hutchison Stadium in Farmington, while the Tigers (6-1) hammered Santa Fe 35-6 at Fred Cook Memorial Stadium in Aztec.

PV’s big plays included an 83-yard touchdown by Danny Thompson.

Aztec’s Mikey Phillips, Javier Valenzuela and Austin Schaub all had touchdown receptions, and Alex Parra’s two touchdown runs (39 yards and 20 yards, respectively)  put the game away for good.

Bobcats still unbeaten

The Bloomfield football team crushed Miyamura 55-14 on the road in Gallup, improving to 7-0 this season.

Farmington-Rio Grande football game suspended

The Scorpions had a 7-0 lead with 10:50 left in the second quarter in Albuquerque when a stadium lights malfunction stopped play for the remainder of the night.
