Aztec hammers Taos for key 4A victory
AZTEC – Aztec's backfield kept on attacking, lifting the Tigers to a critical 38-0 win over defending 4A state champion Taos tonight at Fred Cook Memorial Stadium in Aztec.
Alex Parra punched in three rushing touchdowns, including an 80-yard score darting along the AHS sideline.
Dyllon Whitaker helped the cause with 27 and 44-yard touchdown runs of his own in the fourth quarter.
Meanwhile, Aztec's defense neutralized Taos. The Tigers minimized the damage with group tackling and pass deflections, and they constantly chased after Taos's skill players in and around the backfield.
Aztec (3-0) has scored a combined 128 points this season.
PV also gets shutout victory
The Panthers (2-1) crushed Valley 37-0 tonight at Milne Stadium in Albuquerque.
Farmington, Newcomb also victorious
The Scorpions (3-0) topped Del Norte 34-21 tonight at Hutchison Stadium, while the Skyhawks (2-1) won 22-6 tonight at Ignacio, Colorado.
Kirtland falls at home
The Broncos (1-2) lost 31-11 against St. Pius tonight at Bill Cawood Field in Kirtland.
