Scorps blast Belen in home opener
FARMINGTON — The Farmington Scorpions’ offense ignited for 27 second-half points, hammering Belen 46-24 in tonight’s home opener at Hutchison Stadium in Farmington.
Thomas Montoya, who scored on a 55-yard touchdown run midway through the second quarter, broke the game open in the third quarter, darting down the left side of the field for a 70-yard touchdown reception.
Caleb Carrillo (1-yard score on a quarterback keeper), Max Montoya (5-yard touchdown reception in the right corner) and Ethan Thomas (26-yard touchdown reception up the middle) helped put the game away soon after.
Encore of blowout wins
Bloomfield crushed Escalante 63-12, while Kirtland Central hammered Montezuma-Cortez, Colorado 50-0. Navajo Prep took down Wingate 50-0.
Elsewhere, Shiprock defeated Crownpoint 23-14.
