FARMINGTON — The Piedra Vista offense rammed the football down the throat of the Farmington defense tonight, clinching the District 1-5A title with a 28-7 victory at Hutchison Stadium.

PV (7-3, 3-0) beat FHS (5-5, 2-1) for the fifth straight time.

McKay Cook and company broke tackles left and right, creating plenty of space by attacking the creases. The Panthers mixed in lots of 3- or 4-yard gains with occasional big runs like Cook’s 42-yard scoring jaunt.

PV also neutralized Farmington’s skill players on the other side of the ball. The Panthers recorded multiple sacks, and they forced several incomplete passes in the end zone. But the Scorpions may have been their own worse enemy, getting called for 18 penalties.
