Three area teams still unbeaten in district play

FARMINGTON — Three area football teams picked up victories tonight to stay unbeaten in district play.

Piedra Vista crushed Highland 41-7 at Hutchison Stadium, while Farmington shut out Miyamura 41-0 on the road. Kirtland Central topped Bloomfield 26-14 at Bronco Stadium.

PV (6-3, 2-0) and FHS (5-4, 2-0) will go at it 7 p.m. Nov. 2, while Kirtland (6-3, 2-0) will play at Gallup that same time and night.

Navajo Prep wins homecoming game

After getting shut out last weekend at Hope Christian, the Eagle offense got back on the right path tonight en route to a 33-6 district win over Laguna Acoma at Eagle Stadium.

Prep (4-4, 1-1) initially had its homecoming game scheduled for Oct. 12 against Dolores, Colorado, but that game was cancelled because Dolores was short on available players.

Aztec blasts Gallup

The Tigers (5-4, 1-1) won tonight’s district game 56-6 over the Bengals at Fred Cook Stadium in Aztec. Aztec scored 48 points or more for the fourth time this season.

Newcomb endures first loss, Shiprock also loses

Escalante shut out the Skyhawks 25-0 tonight at Newcomb, ending the hosts' unbeaten streak. Elsewhere, the Chieftains lost to Albuquerque High at home tonight, 55-12.

Shiprock is 2-7 this season.

Newcomb is 9-1, but will find out its playoff seed when the 2A bracket comes out Saturday night on
