Broncos now fifth in latest 4A rankings

FARMINGTON — Kirtland Central continues to dominate on the football field, allowing the Broncos to shoot up the 4A rankings in the latest New Mexico Sports Overtime Sports Center poll.

The Broncos, on a five-game winning streak, moved up three spots to fifth in the latest 4A poll after hammering Aztec 56-35 in Friday’s district opener.

Bloomfield is still sixth in 4A, while Aztec slipped two spots to ninth in 4A.

Piedra Vista, coming off a 42-0 district win over Miyamura, is still ranked fifth in the latest 5A poll. Newcomb is again ranked fifth in the latest 2A poll and is among nine unbeaten New Mexico teams left.

The Panthers moved up one spot after pushing both Farmington and Eldorado to five sets last week.

FHS remains ranked ninth in 5A, while Kirtland moved up one spot to eighth in the latest 4A poll. Navajo Prep moved up one spot to fourth in 3A.
