FARMINGTON — The Farmington football team overcame a 20-6 deficit in the fourth quarter, rallying for a 28-20 homecoming win over Rio Grande tonight at Hutchison Stadium.

The Scorpions had some big gains early on, but failed to punch it in during those drives. FHS struggled to reach the open creases and was often stopped for minimal gains.

Farmington's offense finally ignited with 8:20 left in the fourth quarter.

Juan Medrano's 75-yard touchdown reception started the rally, and the Scorps kept chipping away at the deficit. Johnny Shuttleworth then broke through the middle for a 1-yard go-ahead touchdown run moments later.

Thomas Montoya tacked on an insurance score with a 30-yard interception return, and the Scorpion defense contained the Ravens on downs in the final minute, within 5 yards of the goal line, to secure the victory.

Bloomfield, Newcomb win big at home

The Skyhawks shut out McCurdy 50-0 via halftime mercy rule tonight to stay unbeaten, while the Bobcats snapped their three-game losing streak with a 49-13 win over Miyamura.

PV, Aztec dominate on road
