Kirtland Central jumps up three spots in 4A rankings

FARMINGTON — Kirtland Central is reaping the benefits of pulling off a big victory last Friday, moving up three spots in the latest New Mexico Overtime Sports Center football rankings.

The Broncos, who crushed Farmington 40-14 in Week 6, moved up from No. 8 to No. 5 in the latest 4A poll. FHS fell out of the top 10 in 5A.

Aztec and Bloomfield also maintained their spots in the latest 4A rankings. The Tigers (No. 7) edged St. Pius 28-24, while the Bobcats (No. 9) lost 17-14 in overtime against 5A’s Valencia.

Piedra Vista, which had a bye last week, enters Week 7 as the sixth-ranked team in 5A, while Newcomb is the No. 7 team in the latest 2A poll.
