Key upcoming games

Bloomfield vs. Miyamura (7 p.m. Friday)

After last Friday’s Homecoming game against 5A’s Valencia, which would’ve been a signature win, slipped through the cracks, the Bobcats need to get back in the win column somehow — even if it means facing a winless 5A ball club — to keep building its 4A playoff resume.

Beating someone like Miyamura doesn’t hold the same weight as Valencia, but it’d still be more helpful than its Week 2 win over Escalante.

Aztec at Santa Fe (7 p.m. Friday)

The Tigers have played a tough schedule so far, playing the likes of 6A’s Clovis, 5A’s Miyamura, 4A contender Taos and 4A’s St. Pius.

As much as that benefits Aztec’s 4A playoff resume, beating a second 5A team would further bolster the Tigers’ case for a higher playoff seed.

Kirtland Central at Moriarty (6 p.m. Oct. 12)

After taking down PV and Farmington, Kirtland would benefit from another quality win.

The Broncos’ defense would face another big test in the Pintos’ run game.

Moriarty (also 3-3 in 4A) has five players in its backfield with well over 1,200 combined rushing yards.

The Broncos, who’ve won three straight games and are on a bye week, have outscored foes 97-20 since Sept. 14.
