BLOOMFIELD — The Valencia football team crashed Bloomfield's homecoming party, kicking a field goal in overtime to top the Bobcats 17-14 tonight at Bobcat Stadium.

The loss was Bloomfield's third straight.

After Aaron Tamporello scored a touchdown off a strip sack by Kenyon Mosley, Noah Gurule extended Bloomfield's first-quarter lead to 14-0 with a 26-yard touchdown reception in the right corner of the end zone.

But the Bobcat offense couldn't do any more damage the rest of the night.

Valencia stormed back in the second half, thanks to a 14-yard touchdown reception by Robbie Jaramillo and some crucial interceptions, halting Bloomfield drives. That was enough to allow the Jaguars to draw even and force overtime.

The hosts had a chance to get on the scoreboard and win it, but they couldn't get the job done. Bloomfield ran the ball at the 1-yard line on fourth down, but was stopped just short of the goal line.

From there, Valencia got close enough to the end zone to set up the game-winning field goal.

Kirtland Central, Newcomb win big

The Broncos won 40-14 over Farmington tonight at Hutchison Stadium. Elsewhere, Newcomb shut out Questa, 42-0, to open district play.

The Skyhawks scored their first 30 points in the first quarter, while KC led 28-6 at halftime and didn't look back.

Aztec edges St. Pius

The Tigers won 28-24 tonight at Fred Cook Stadium.

Aztec's defense got key stops down the stretch. The Tigers have won back-to-back games.

Navajo Prep wins on road

The Eagles got back on the right path with a 20-14 victory at Whitehorse, Utah.
