FARMINGTON — Despite the recent ups and down in San Juan County’s football scene, many area teams again found themselves among the top 10 in the latest New Mexico Overtime Sports Center rankings.

Piedra Vista moved up to No. 5 in the latest 5A rankings after hammering 5A power Belen on Friday. Despite Friday’s 45-0 loss at Durango, Colorado, Farmington (2-3) dropped just one spot to No. 9 in the 5A poll.

Bloomfield (No. 6), Kirtland Central (No. 8) and Aztec (No. 9) all stayed put among 4A’s top 10. Kirtland and Aztec are both coming off mercy-rule shutout victories, while Bloomfield couldn’t withstand 3A contender Hope Christian during the fourth quarter of Saturday’s 36-21 loss.

Newcomb, still undefeated after taking down Lordsburg in Saturday’s 40-38 slugfest, is No. 8 the latest 2A poll.
