Farmington finishes district campaign with all wins

FARMINGTON — The Farmington football team easily handled business in its last district tuneup before the 5A playoffs, blanking Bloomfield 54-0 via fourth-quarter mercy rule Thursday night at Hutchison Stadium.
The Scorpions jumped on the Bobcats by going airborne. Ethan Todd’s 25-yard touchdown reception in the right corner was the beginning.
Farmington kept attacking the outer gaps and repeatedly crossed the goal line.
“The guys did great. They came out ready to play, made that final statement heading into the playoffs,” Scorpions coach Jeff Dalton said. “It’s always good to get up early and feel like you have control of the game. We were able to expose a few alignment things and capitalize on those.”

Meanwhile, Bloomfield was unable to get things going on offense.
Quarterback Vince Marquez was pushed around often in and around the pocket. He was brought down for losses multiple times and made some off-balance throws.
Farmington returned three interceptions for touchdowns. Jacob Brown had two pick-6s, while Matt Hewey ended the game with a pick-6 of his own.
The Bobcats’ season ended at 3-7, 1-4 in district play.

“Protection broke down, we weren’t seeing receivers quick enough, all kinds of things,” Bloomfield coach Bob Allcorn said. “We embarrassed ourselves in every way. I obviously didn’t have the team prepared to play, and that’s on me.”
