Upcoming games to watch

Aztec at Miyamura, 3 p.m. Tuesday

The Tigers look to take another step toward winning two district titles in three years, but now comes the tough part of their regular season.

Aztec will hit the road for four of its final five district games, starting with a Miyamura squad seeking payback from the first meeting (Aztec won, 5-3) and that is still mathematically in the hunt for the district title.

Navajo Prep vs. Tohatchi, 3 p.m. Tuesday

The Eagles, who will continue a critical six-game home stand, look to remain in the hunt for the District 1-3A title.

Prep is a game behind both Zuni and Laguna Acoma for the top spot in the district standings, but Tohatchi enters the series on a four-game winning steak and could present trouble.

Depending on how Tuesday’s Zuni/Thoreau doubleheader pans out, Prep will need to secure at least a split, if not a sweep, in Tuesday’s twin bill to remain in the district title conversations.

Farmington vs. La Cueva, Noon Saturday

The Scorpions face a tall order in the Bears, who are defending back-to-back state titles in the now-defunct Class 6A.

Forcing a split could at least punch the Scorpions’ ticket to state, but FHS will need to sweep La Cueva to stay in the District 2-5A title race and for an even higher playoff seed.
