FARMINGTON — There will be a bone marrow drive this weekend at two area locations in support of Piedra Vista baseball player Max McGaha, as well as local registered nurse Nicole Smith.

The first day of the event will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at 550 Brewing in Aztec. The second day of the event will held from 9 a.m. to noon Sunday at the Piedra Vista theater building, located at 5700 College Blvd. in Farmington.

Both McGaha and Smith are battling leukemia. McGaha was diagnosed earlier this fall, while Smith is fighting the disease for the second time.

There also will be a cornhole tournament as part of the Saturday portion of the fundraiser. Registration costs $50 per team.

The Love Hope Strength Foundation will be on site this weekend with bone marrow swab kits for those looking to donate. Donors ages 18 to 55 are welcome. Food trucks and vendors also will be on site.
