FARMINGTON — The Florida Legends had to wait five years to get back to the Connie Mack World Series, and they're definitely making the wait worthwhile.

The Legends, out of Miami, earned their spot in bracket play, which starts Tuesday after a 3-2 win over D-BAT 17 in extra innings today at Ricketts Park.

"We're really getting our money's worth right now. We're playing every inning like it’s the seventh game of the world series," Florida coach Carlos Marti said. "We're ready for one-run ball games."

The Legends beat All-Star Baseball Academy 2-1 on Saturday.

The two teams traded runs in the first inning and remained knotted until the top of the eighth when Florida's Jose Gutierrez blasted a two-out two-run homer over the right-field wall.

D-BAT had a chance to answer in the bottom of the frame and scored one, but left one runner on when they grounded out to end the game.

"Basically, there was a coaching mistake," D-BAT coach Zack Matthews said of the end of the game. "It wasn't on the kids."

All-Star Baseball Academy 10, Connecticut Bombers 2

All-Star Baseball Academy picked up a needed win to keep hope of making it into bracket play at the Connie Mack World Series today, knocking off the Connecticut Bombers 10-2 in Pool C at Ricketts Park.

ASBA dropped its opening game 2-1 to the Florida Legends Saturday, and ASBA coach Roumaldo Romero said he was proud of the way his squad bounced back.

"After the loss (Saturday) night, we really didn't hang our heads long," Romero said. "The team was really good and I think we were happy with how we played that game. My guys were not down at all and they really wanted to win. They had great focus."

ASBA gave the Bombers different looks on the mound with power pitcher Jordan Suarez and the off-speed work of Nolan Ruff.

Along with struggling to string hits together, only recording six in the game, errors plagued the Bombers, who committed five in the loss.

The Legends now wait to learn who they'll face in bracket play Tuesday at Ricketts Park.

D-BAT 17 7, All-Star Baseball Academy 2

D-BAT 17 locked up its spot in bracket play of the Connie Mack World Series with a 7-2 win over All-Star Baseball Academy tonight at Worley Field.

D-BAT was in control for the majority of the game, thanks to a powerful third inning that included a three-run homer from Diego Muniz and a solo shot from Grayson Rodriguez.
