NMSU basketball to compete in Hawaii's Diamond Head Classic
LAS CRUCES – The New Mexico State men's basketball team is set to participate in The Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic during its 2021-22 campaign.
The three-day invitational tournament is scheduled to take place on Dec. 22, 23, and 25 inside the University of Hawaii's Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu.
The field, which was first reported by Happening Hoops, consists of New Mexico State, Hawaii, Stanford, South Florida, Wyoming, BYU, Liberty, and Northern Iowa.
The Aggies went 12-8 (7-6 WAC) this past season and reached the conference tournament's title game before falling to Grand Canyon, 74-56.
New Mexico State has since seen 15 changes to its roster. Eight players from last season's squad have entered the transfer portal, and the team has filled those holes by bringing in seven new additions.
The Aggies are also still awaiting the decisions of three seniors who have the option to return. Neither Donnie Tillman, Clayton Henry or Johnny McCants have confirmed their return/departure.
