FARMINGTON — Farmington police officials identified the man found dead at the Rimrock Lodge on Monday morning as 61-year-old Dalton Ford of Farmington.

Ford's body was found by police shortly after 6:30 a.m. Monday in a room at the motel, located at 2530 U.S. Highway 64.

His body was visible through an open doorway, and there was evidence, including blood, suggesting foul play.

Farmington detective Lt. Daryl Noon said officers interviewed Ford's relatives and friends Tuesday.

"We are looking to identify recent associates of the victim," Noon said.

He said detectives are also working to piece together the sequence of events that lead to Ford's death.

Noon again declined to answer specific questions about the homicide, citing the ongoing investigation.

Ford had no criminal history in New Mexico, according to court records.

The department is asking anyone with information regarding Ford's death to contact detective Mark Norwood at 505-599-1005.

Anonymous tips can be reported by calling San Juan County Crime Stoppers at 505-334-8477.
