FARMINGTON — Farmington police detectives are seeking a suspect in the armed robbery of a Walmart electronics department.

Officers were dispatched at approximately 9:15 p.m. Monday to the Walmart at 1400 West Main St. in Farmington after receiving a report of the armed robbery, according to a Farmington police press release.

The suspect approached a cashier in the electronics department of Walmart and demanded money from his register, the release states.

The cashier ignored the demand and the suspect then raised his shirt and exposed his waistband area, according to the release. The cashier observed what he believed to be a weapon and then provided an undisclosed amount of money to the suspect, the release states.

The suspect fled west from the store and was not located by police, according to the release.

Farmington police detectives have reviewed the Walmart's surveillance footage and have developed "significant leads" in the case, the affidavit states.

Farmington police Lt. Casey Malone said the department would not release a description of the suspect at this point.
