Author and neuroanatomist Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor will speak in Farmington
FARMINGTON — Neuroanatomist and author Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor will speak this weekend in Farmington to launch National Rehabilitation Awareness Week.
San Juan Regional Medical Center is presenting the free event.
Bolte Taylor suffered a rare stroke in the left hemisphere of her brain in 1996, and it took her eight years to fully recover, according to a press release from the hospital.
In 2008, she penned a memoir called "My Stroke of Insight: A Brain Scientist's Personal Journey" that ended up on the New York Times best seller list and scored her a spot in Time Magazine's annual list of the 100 most influential people in the world.
The talk will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Farmington Civic Center, 200 W. Arrington St. Afterward, Bolte Taylor will sign copies of her book, and hospital staff will share information about strokes.
