Kirtland mayor, trustees are running unopposed

Kirtland residents will vote for two town trustees and a mayor in the March 1 election. All elected positions in the town are at-large seats.

All three candidates — Mayor Mark Duncan, Trustee Thomas W. Wethington and Trustee Pete Emery — are incumbents who are running uncontested.

Elected officials will serve four-year terms.

Larry Hathaway, San Juan County community development administrator, and Jason Heslop of Dugan Production Co. in Farmington, are the town's other two trustees.

Duncan works as San Juan County treasurer in Aztec. Wethington retired as utility director for the city of Farmington. Emery is a crude oil hauler for Western Refining in Bloomfield.

Kirtland residents can vote from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. March 1 at the Kirtland Town Hall, 31 County Road 6299 in Kirtland.
