One killed, 3 injured in wreck south of Bloomfield

Second wreck occurs when vehicle hits ambulance

FARMINGTON — One person was killed and three people were transported from the scene with critical injuries after a vehicle rollover this afternoon on U.S. Highway 550 south of Bloomfield.

The wreck occurred around 4:38 p.m. near mile marker 128 on U.S. Highway 550 about 24 miles south of Bloomfield, according to Detective Lt. Kyle Lincoln of the San Juan County Sheriff's Office. 

Multiple agencies responded to the scene. 

Traffic near the scene was restricted to one lane after a single-vehicle rollover, according to a post on the sheriff's office Facebook page. 

A second wreck occurred near the scene when a vehicle struck an ambulance, according to Lincoln. There were no injuries in that wreck.

The investigation is being handled by New Mexico State Police.
