FARMINGTON — A Beclabito resident was sentenced Thursday to about a year in prison followed by three years of supervised release for allegedly burning down his house.

Benjamin Joe Begay Jr., 45, reportedly arrived home intoxicated on July 31, 2014, and began to fight with his wife and daughters. His wife and children left the house during the argument, according to court documents.

Begay then allegedly set the residence on fire while trying to burn his wife's rug, according to court documents.

The house, its contents and a gray truck were destroyed in the fire, according to a press release from the U.S. Department of Justice.
