Two tribal directors seek confirmation by council

FARMINGTON — Two bills are calling for the confirmation by the Navajo Nation Council of Donald Benn as executive director of the Navajo Nation Environmental Protection Agency and Bidtah Becker as executive director of the tribe's Division of Natural Resources.

Benn's appointment by Navajo Nation President Russell Begaye became effective on May 20, according to a letter attached to the legislation.

He worked for four years as a research science consultant for Nihidáh Nidíí DaL Diné Research Laboratory LLC in Lukachukai, Ariz.

Begaye's appointment for Becker became effective on May 18, according to a memorandum included with the bill.

Prior to the appointment, Becker served as an assistant attorney general for the Natural Resources Unit of the tribe's Department of Justice.

She also served as an attorney for the department's Water Rights Unit and for the Human Services and Government Unit.
