FARMINGTON — The Shiprock Chapter is looking for volunteers to complete community cleanup projects.

Chapter President Duane "Chili" Yazzie wrote in an email on Friday that volunteers are needed to complete a series of beautification projects in the community.

Volunteers would work with the chapter's student workers, who have started the projects as part of their employment. Among the equipment they need are shovels, rakes, hoes, wheel barrows, chainsaws and trucks.

Yazzie is asking volunteers to arrive at the chapter house at 8 a.m. Monday to learn about the projects and receive assignments.

The chapter is also seeking monetary donations to purchase material to start construction of the community skate park in August, he wrote.

"The success of our Shiprock beautification depends on the spirit of volunteerism in our community," he stated.
