FARMINGTON — A small fire that started last week on Ch'ooshgai Mountain near Toadlena is fully contained as of Monday.

The fire burned approximately 3 acres and was caused by lightning, according to a public notification released by the Bureau of Indian Affairs Navajo Region Wildland Fire and Aviation Management.

The agency stated the fire, located about 2.5 miles south of Toadlena, started on July 25 and did not increase in size due to response from firefighters and recent rainfall in the area.

It burned in grass and brush as well as ponderosa pine and no structures were damaged, according to the agency.

Firefighters responded with full suppression tactics and two engines to contain the fire.
