Tribe's economic development director steps down
President's office says Crystal Deschinny quits for personal reasons
FARMINGTON — The director of the Navajo Nation Division of Economic Development resigned Tuesday, according to a press release from the tribal president's office.
Navajo Nation President Russell Begaye said Crystal J. Deschinny is leaving the position because of personal reasons.
"OPVP would like to thank Director Deschinny for her work with the Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy, which is a blueprint for assessing and strategizing business development across the Navajo Nation," Begaye said in the release.
"Her work will help the nation to better place businesses in economically supportive locations," the president added.
Deschinny was appointed director in March 2016 and confirmed by the Navajo Nation Council in April 2016.
The release states Tony Perry, department manager for the division's project development, will serve as acting division director.
The president's office will name and appoint a new director soon, according to the release.
