FARMINGTON — Opinions issued by attorneys general for the Navajo Nation are now available online, according to a press release from the tribe's Office of Attorney General.

The release states the opinions are being posted to provide the public greater access and increase transparency in governance.

Attorney General Ethel Branch said in the release that the tribal council encouraged her to provide such access to the opinions, and the project was completed by a new staff member.

"It is so critical that we have clarity in our laws. Access to attorney general opinions will provide that clarity on questions of law that the nation's various attorney generals have addressed," Branch said.

The opinions are available online at nndoj.org/Attorney_General_Opinions.aspx.

Any branch, division, department, enterprise, chapter or other tribal government entity or elected tribal official may request a paper copy of an opinion to address questions relating to laws for that entity or office, according to the release.

Request for copies can be submitted by mail to the Navajo Nation Department of Justice, P.O. Box 2010, Old BIA Club Building, Window Rock, AZ 86515.
