Budget session called for Navajo Nation Council

FARMINGTON — The Navajo Nation Council will convene for its annual budget session starting at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the council chamber in Window Rock, Ariz.
The proposed agenda for the session lists a bill to approve a $626.4 million comprehensive budget for fiscal year 2017.
The budget includes about $165.9 million in general funds and approximately $460.4 million in federal, state and private funding.
Each branch receives a portion of the amount, with the executive branch receiving $565.6 million, the legislative branch receiving $15.3 million and the judicial branch receiving $14.6 million.
Delegate Seth Damon, who represents Bááháálí, Chichiltah, Manuelito, Rock Springs, Tsayatoh and Tsé Lichíí chapters, is sponsoring the legislation.
