FARMINGTON — Two people were killed and four people were injured in a vehicle crash which occurred this morning in southeastern San Juan County.

The crash occurred around 11:24 a.m. near the 110/111 mile marker on U.S. Highway 550, according to county dispatch and a San Juan County Sheriff's Office Facebook post.

A vehicle traveling northbound and a vehicle traveling southbound crashed into each other, according to Sheriff's Office spokesperson Jayme Harcrow.

Two occupants were transported by helicopter and two by ambulance from the scene.

The vehicle that was traveling northbound is in the southbound lanes, and those lanes are closed.  

Northbound and southbound traffic is restricted to one lane each.

The sheriff's office is handling the investigation. The San Juan County Fire Department and New Mexico State Police were assisting in the case.
