Sheriff's Office responded to fatal shooting in Colorado

FARMINGTON — The San Juan County Sheriff's Office responded to a shooting this afternoon in which a juvenile was shot and killed in Colorado. 

Deputies for the sheriff's office were dispatched to a shooting around 2:58 p.m. in the area of County Road 4020 in the northeast corner of San Juan County, according to Detective Lt. Kyle Lincoln of the Sheriff's Office. 

Authorities initially believed the call came from within San Juan County but later determined the incident occurred in Colorado, according to Lincoln.

The Sheriff's Office responded to the call along with Colorado law enforcement personnel. 

Lincoln did not have any additional information on the incident beyond saying a juvenile had been shot and killed.

He added the San Juan County Sheriff's Office left the scene around 3:50 p.m. after the Archuleta County Sherrif's Office arrived on scene to conduct the investigation.

Lincoln referred questions on the incident to the Archuleta County Sheriff's Office.
