United Blood Service needs type O blood
FARMINGTON — United Blood Services has issued an urgent call for type O blood donations.
Recent blood transfusions have depleted the nonprofit's blood bank, and, to meet demand, the agency imported 285 pints of blood from a center in El Paso, Texas, according to a press release from the organization.
While there is an urgent need for type O donors, United Blood Services also needs all types of blood.
To donate blood, people can stop at the Farmington center at 475 E. 20th St., Suite A. Donors can set up appointments by calling 505-246-1457 or visiting unitedbloodservices.org. Walk-ins are accepted.
Blood donations will also be accepted from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday at the Northern New Mexico Street Rodders car show at the McGee Park Convention Center, 41 County Road 5568.
Donors must be at least 16 years old and weigh at least 110 pounds, according to the press release.
