FARMINGTON — The San Juan County Commission on Wednesday approved the acceptance of two grants from the state to improve the Blanco Senior Center.

One $4,600 grant is to improve the center’s code compliance, and buy and install equipment, according to county documents. The other $78,000 grant to buy and equip vehicles for the center, according to county documents.

The county recently signed a settlement agreement with the U.S. Department of Justice that requires that it comply with provisions of the Americans with Disabilities Act. The county expects it will spend $175,000 over the next three years complying.

County Executive Officer Kim Carpenter said the two grant agreements with New Mexico Aging and Long-Term Services are not related to the settlement.
