Farmington police investigate death of man found in park

FARMINGTON — The Farmington Police Department is investigating the death of a man found in a Farmington park this morning.
Officers were dispatched about 10:36 a.m. to the east side of Brookside Park at 1801 Brookside Drive on a report of a body found lying in the grassy area near the Brookside Drive entrance, according to Farmington police spokesperson Georgette Allen.
Allen described the deceased as a Native American male in his early 50s. He was found dead when officers arrived on the scene.
Investigators have not positively identified the man, and there appear to be no signs of foul play or trauma.
When asked if alcohol was a factor in his death, Allen said police will look at all the possibilities, including medical issues.
The New Mexico Office of the Medical Investigator has taken custody of the body.
