AZTEC — People will not be able to vote at the San Juan County Multi-Agency Building at 7450 E. Main St. in Farmington during the 2018 elections.

The San Juan County Commission approved the polling locations for 2018 during its Tuesday evening meeting. There will be 33 polling locations during the 2018 elections.

Tanya Shelby, the county clerk, said fewer than 200 voters have used the multi-use building in the past two years, and only 18 people consistently vote there. There are two other voting convenience centers within 3 miles of the location.

Shelby said the multi-use building is now housing U.S. Sen. Martin Heinrich's Farmington office. The Democratic senator is up for re-election in 2018. Shelby said using a building with Heinrich's name displayed inside for voting could create problems with election rules.
