New Denny's restaurant set to open this month
Old restaurant will close Monday, and equipment will be sold
FARMINGTON — Work is close to being completed for the new Denny's restaurant on Scott Avenue here.
As part of the preparation process for moving into the new location, the old restaurant, located at 600 Scott Ave., will close late Monday.
On Tuesday, equipment, fixtures and other assorted items will be removed from the current restaurant. General manager Eula Holmes said the items will be sold that day in the restaurant parking lot.
"We have to take everything out, completely," Holmes said, adding that management will accept bids for the equipment, and the items must be removed that day by those who purchase them
Demolition of the old building could start as early as Wednesday, she said. The building is being leveled to make space for a parking lot to accommodate the new restaurant next door.
Denny's will reopen in its new building on Sept. 24, Holmes said.
"It's big, it's beautiful. …We're anxious. We're excited. We've been waiting a long time," she said about the new location.
The new 4,500-square-foot building has been under construction for most of the summer and is more spacious than the current location.
It will accommodate up to 160 customers. To meet the increase, the business is hiring, and applications are available online at work4dennys.com, Holmes said.
Construction workers continue work on the interior, including placing a black-and-white mural that depicts the Animas River and one of the pedestrian bridges at Berg Park.
Holmes said the décor will convey a modern dining atmosphere.
