Teenagers enjoy games at Farmington library

The Daily Times staff

FARMINGTON — Orion Dees and William Knight, both 15, attended the teen gaming fix today at the Farmington Public Library.

William Knight, 15, and Orion Dees, 15, play a video game Saturday at the Farmington Public Library as part of the library's daily teen gaming sessions.

The daily gaming fix sessions are one of the popular activities at the library for teenagers like Dees and Knight.

Youth Services Technician Pablo Viramontes said the main draw for teenagers to visit the youth center at the library is the video games.

"They like to come in and bring their friends and just play games," he said.

While the video games are the youth center's most popular feature, the library also reaches out to teenagers by showing recently released movies at 4 p.m. every Monday and allowing the teenagers a chance to experiment with technology like 3D printing at 4 p.m. Tuesdays.

Another activity teenagers can participate in is the monthly Mayor's Teen Advisory Council, which meets the first Thursday of each month. Viramontes said the council is currently focusing on teenage drinking and will have a meetup with a guest speaker at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 23 at the library to discuss teenage drinking.
